As of this moment

This blog is no longer active.

I will not delete, lest I decide to come back for it some day. That day is not in the foreseeable future.

I have specific wants and desires out of tumblr. I no longer desire to have long talks about things that make me angry. Yes, you heard it, I don’t feel like being mad anymore. Surprise.

Some of you will be angry at me. It is your choice if this means us not being friends in real life anymore (and a couple of you on tumblr), and I won’t begrudge you for that choice. But I will say right now that I cannot be followed or find myself following you on tumblr anymore.

Please, have a good day. Smile. Find something to be happy about, even if the world is a shitpile right now.

“Death and the disposable male is throughout our media, but I don’t see anyone making lists about it. … Women = Sex objects; Men = canon fodder and disposable. I don’t know which is worse, but at least one lives through the game (movie/book) the majority of the time. … Men are almost always the enemy in these games, getting shot, blown up and destroyed, yet [this] is a problem when it happens to women, but not when the entire game devalues men? It’s a social taboo to hurt women, but not men—and no one sees a problem with that, especially in games.” —

- “Jac”, commenter on misogyny article ‘Own Up or Change’ (via sorenhateseverything)

F: men are the bad guys in games because men are /everyone/ in games. For serious, there’s like 5 women per game and when one of them isn’t the main villain you think it’s because everyone hates men?

It’s a social taboo to see women hurt because guys think girls are weak and should be protected whereas guys are hurrr manlyy. The sexism guys receive is brought on almost entirely by themselves. (via checkdatprivilege)

^ This kind of argument is not productive. There are some points in there that are indeed valid, but they won’t get through to anyone under the guise of “guys bring this on themselves.” No one on either side of the debate is TRYING to be evil.

I am not discounting misogyny, but you must realize men are expected to know how to do everything and be everything just because they are men. Being “neutral” has its price to pay as well — which often means being invisible, being expected to naturally know how to do “masculine” tasks, and being the family caretaker, even if one is not interested or cut out for the job.

Men are often portrayed as a disposable entity that exists to protect the female, and much of society functions this way. This dynamic is unhealthy for both genders involved — not just for women.

(via sorenhateseverything)

And here’s this just in case anyone thinks I’m the only male that hates that fucking argument.

Reverse misogyny is a thing that happens, and I’m disappointed that you of all people would even say that it doesn’t.

While you’re correct that women are horribly underrepresented in almost everything, the quote is still correct about it being social taboo to hurt women. Sure, the reason is fucked up (women being perceived as weak), but it is still a goddamn fact. The quote doesn’t say “oh well women deserve this because they asked for this”. We know women didn’t ask for their position.

I’m on tumblr. I hear it every day of my life. Not complaining, I’m just pointing out that it is an entirely moot point to tell me that.

No amount of flag waving and ranting is going to change that in the immediate future. I’m sorry, women are still going to fight for equality. Men are helping. Some more than others, and some not at all, but there are women that aren’t helping either.

Which brings me to my next point. That bit about “If you have a problem with the amount of men dying and being villianized in video games and movies you only have to turn to your own gender and say, “Hey, why don’t we give women an equal role?” Because that is all we, as women, are asking for.”

Let me turn to my own gender right now. Hey EA, while you’re making that Day One DLC, could you put in some more females? Thanks.

I also don’t need to tell you how that fell on deaf ears. I’ve been outspoken about the unbalancing of sex, gender, hell - both. You know where it has gotten me on the measurable scale? Fucking nowhere. When feminists say shit like that, all it makes me want to do is burn my laptop and move into the forest. I am not an authority in that industry. I am not an authority of any kind. My endless flagwaving will accomplish nothing for you, and telling me that I can fix the problem by doing that is just wrong. It’s not morally wrong, it’s just nothing more than a pipedream. I think I know about those.

Women are being injected more and more into things like video games and comics, and maybe it’s not as fast or as large-scale as it SHOULD be. That is not my fault because I have a goddamn dick between my legs. I am sick of people making me feel bad for being a white male.

Let’s get this straight, tumblr.

I did not choose anything about me concerning gender or ethnicity. My parents are white, they fucked, and I missed my 50:50 shot to be undervalued. I don’t feel as if I should be a woman (the trans people have it the worst, honestly. Hats off to you guys). I am happy in my own body, and I will not continue to feel ashamed of it.

The quote is accurate, regardless of whatever implications it has. Men are canon fodder, will continue to be, and what is a finer example? Of all the things every feminist I know posts on tumblr, I post one quote about men having it hard.

And then, suddenly, multi-paragraph long reblog about how wrong I am.

Still think men aren’t canon fodder?

can someone explain to me why there’s backlash against Joss Whedon’s female characterizations? because yeah, I would consider myself a feminist, but I really don’t understand what people have against the way he writes female characters.

like is it just the Inara controversy or what

I’m not…

I really don’t know. I went to a panel at PCC and listened to a talk from one female comic artist and two males, one of which had been an illustrator for Lady Death. He brought up a good point: everything in comics is SUPPOSED to be exaggerated. Granted, the males aren’t nearly as over sexualized, but have you seen any male superhero without a shirt? They have fucking firetrucks parked on their chests. They’re jacked, even Tony Stark is ripped in the Iron Man comics.

One could argue, “Well of course they are ripped, they fight and train all the time.” Look at the muscle definition and size on them, that’s not normal at all.

Everything in comics is supposed to be exaggerated. I think it would be better if everyone came to terms with it, seeing how the authors and illustrators follow that principle. But if anything, I think Joss Whedon’s females are less exaggerated than many others’.

And yet, the most memorable part of The Avengers is the ample butt-shots of EVERY CAST MEMBER. It’s like the costume designer was all, “Joss, we’ve got a lineup of actors and actresses with FUCKING AWESOME BUTTS. I’ve got pieces here that’ll make ‘em pop, so, uh… yeah. Display the booty.”

Maybe I’m the only one that didn’t really notice (or care) about all the butts? *shrug* Have seen the gifsets though, gotta admit, butt shots were apparently ample.

That’s “Paul Mounet”, a french actor, who “died” in 1922.

His body never was found.

Then, look at this:

An unknown man, painted in 1530 by Parmigianino.

Compare them:

He’s a motherfucking vampire

His beard in 2011 even grows the same way as the painting in 1530

Definitely skulls and you love Army of Darkness THIS IS WHY WE’RE BEST FRIENDS NOW. Do you also love Evil Dead?

Evil Dead is fantastic. I made my girlfriend watch it with me a couple months ago and it was a great experience. I’d seen it before, but it was funny to see her reactions.

SHUT UP LINDA

FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE WHO LOVES IT. I’ve tried to make my friends sit through it and they complain of how cheesy it is and I’m like YES LOOK AT THE PERFECTION.

Evil Dead 2 is the best in the trilogy, in my opinion. That one was just, ridiculously great. I was either terrified or crying from laughter at any given moment.

YES WE ARE FRIENDS NOW

THIS JUST IN

I qualified for the Presidential Scholarship with my placement test scores.

Here’s a list of “fuck you’s” I’d like to deliver:

  • Fuck you, stuck up AP assholes from High School. I was a regular eng student all four years and I scored 119 in sentence structure and 100 in reading comprehension. Lick my balls.
  • Fuck you, anyone that said I wasn’t qualified to critique or pursue the field of literature and English.
  • Fuck you, math. I scored high enough on you to get into a class THREE LEVELS HIGHER than what I needed for my English major.
  • Fuck you, anyone that says people that casually smoke pot are worthless, stupid, and/or unproductive. Fuck you times ten thousand.
